Ford F150 Transmission
First, a
transmission is a device that is connected to the back of the engine and transmits the power
from the engine to the drive wheels, whether rear or front. It is the transmission's
job to make sure that power is brought to the wheels while keeping the engine
within a certain RPM (Revolutions per minute) range wherein it runs best. The
transmission does this through a variety of gear combinations. Ford F150 comes
with a 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive. This type of transmission is
standard on all F150's.

Meanwhile, the 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional. For
the 2004 model, the refined power of the new Triton engine from Ford, allowed
for a more enhanced integration of all the vehicle's systems including the transmission.
Although the transmission of the
Ford F150 generally gives excellent performance, reliability and toughness, there have
also been some instances where it fell short of expectations. Nevertheless, Ford
F150 still remains as one of the best value vehicles in the market today. Proof
of that is its being the top-selling truck for over 26 years now.
